On Glassdoor, more than 85,000 job openings are posted. The different career paths that data privacy specialists can choose from as they grow are an intriguing part of the field. For instance:

 

  • Data privacy specialists: Specialists in data privacy frequently handle routine compliance responsibilities, such as managing Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs), which are needed to comply with GDPR.

 

  • Data privacy managers: may endeavor to map organizational data flows, improve data privacy education and awareness across business units and employees of an organization, and monitor and flag potential privacy issues and appropriate solutions.

 

  • Data privacy analysts: for the more technically minded, develop solutions and automated controls that support the company’s privacy infrastructure.

 

Too many businesses today concentrate on implementing controls at only one data lifecycle stage. Data privacy skills will be helpful and perhaps profitable for engineers in general as concern over the security of data grows. For cybersecurity engineers, technology consultants, network engineers, computer systems engineers, business management analysts, and others, job listings seeking data privacy understanding have increased. Data privacy and cybersecurity are closely related, and this relationship is one of the main reasons why it is essential to promote data privacy knowledge. The demand for data privacy capabilities among cybersecurity workers is also driven by changing privacy legislation.
